KANSAS CHIPS (CHILD ID PROGRAM)

We offer the Kansas CHIP Child ID. This is done free of charge to the parents. This is a program that collects information provided by the parents, photos, digital fingerprints, and a video clip that is burned on to CD, printed and given to each parent. This is Amber Alert friendly. There is nothing retained at the lodge accept permission forms. All information is wiped out of the lodge computer after each child is finished leaving the only copy there is on the disc.

We hope that no one will ever have to use this.  But there is that possibility should that happen why not have every thing at your fingertips. This will not only make it easy for the parents but will ensure all valuable information is not lost when it comes time to use the information since it will already be store.

2008 CHIP

In 2008 we did 2 events and processed 83 children. Our first event took place at Piotique in Clay Center Ks. with 45 kits done that night. The City Hall was packed and it was a very good turn out for us.

We did another event at Green Ks. where we did 38 kids. This was not bad for a cold day in a very small town. There was two clowns from the ISIS Shrine there to greet the children.

2009 CHIPS

Being our 2nd year doing the CHIPS we expanded our events out to new areas and events. This year we started out our CHIP season with Leonardville Ks where we did  45 Children. We set up in the commnity building and had a very good turn out. The community was able to see how the program worked and the children as well as the parents wanted to do the event. It was amazing to see the children stating that they wanted to do it because it looked like fun.

We did the RELAY FOR LIFE for the first time and set up a CHIP booth there. We had a good turn out. We processed another 48 children at that event.

We set up another at the Clay Center Piotique at the city Hall again this year. We did 28 children that day. Not bad since the school set up their own CHILD ID using the child photo and ink finger print. The parents did not check out our event since they did one with the school. Some that did come out after seeing what is done at ours were pleased. Ours is AMBER ALERT freindly and on a disc. Is the kit you used? Can the police down load your disc full of valuable information on the computer and brodcasted around the state in a few mintues?

I was emailed asking if we would like to do another event i Riley County. They held their first annual Riley COunty Health Fair. We showed up  for the 3 hour event the 1st hour and half we did not have too many response. But after doing a few children we had a line. In fact the parents that went through this even picked up their cell phone telling other parents that they need to attend this. We end up doing 18 kids that day most of that was in the last hour and half.

We was asked back to the Green KS. which we did. As normal our event started out on a slow side again but picked up as the parade neared. We was asked if we stay after the parade. Which we was packed when to our suprise but the jolly old Santa showed up in the same building.

Our Chip events total for the last two weekend were 18 at the Riley County Health Fair at the Riley County High School on November 15.  We did 23 at the Green holiday Festival November 21.
The total for all the events that we did this year was 150 children.  Over all we had a good year. Thanks to all of the parents that took the time to process their children. Please share with others.

As we do each event we are asked to do more events. We are trying to raise money to buy our own CHIP computers in 2010.

FUNDRAISER EVENT

Next  year Clay Center lodge #134 is taking on a new role as the CHIP program goes from not only are we going to do the children but if there is any of the community that has some one that has althzimers they can also be done.

The lodge is also in the process of raising money for us to buy at least one if not more computers for us to use. Each time we have a CHIP set up we get asked if we would like to do this at the school, health fair, community events etc. The computers that we been using is from other lodges and you have to request them 6-10 months in advance. Then we have to have the event approve from our lodge since there is a cost to our lodge to set one event up. This is for supplies, CD, ink and rental of the computers. We absorbed the cost so that the parents will get their child done. This helps speed up the recovery process for them if the need arises. The computer cost about $3,000 each. Most of the event we use 2 to 3 computers. This help speed up the lines of children that we have waiting when we are doing our events.

What are the ages for this service? from a new born on up to what are the ages that needs to be done. Any one at risk is encourage to attend the events.
Why is this important to get done now? Right now as parent you are allowed to stop and think about each and every scar, birth mark or medical condition that the child has.
What if I have done this at school at the bank or at the county fair! Why do I need to do this one? Those kits are fine but did you use the ink for the finger prints? Is it stored on a CD or flash drive in case you have to fill out the police report that the information can be sent out on the Amber Alert system in a few minutes?
There is a lot pro and a few cons to our disk as you can see. The Pros out weigh the cons and our children are what is most important here.
Let me explain what the CHIP Program is and why it is important to the community. It is an enhanced digital photos 3 or more photos. one from each side and frontal shot of the face. Digital Finger Prints, this means no ink is used, so no mess. Short movie clip with question asked just like the police would ask if the child was lost. This gives the police a copy to see how the child reacted when they are interviewed. This is another great tool for them. Information that is inputted on the CD is all information about the child and their scars birth marks etc. There is also a place for any health concerns to be listed so if they are found the police and the authorities can take care of any medical problems and get them the treatments if need. There is a swab in the kit that the parents swab the child mouth so that they have a sample of the DNA in their kit. This is all printed off on a paper and CD that is AMBER ALERT friendly. There is nothing retained at the lodge accept the permission slips. When we finish with your child and start the next child the information is wiped off the computer.

And the child Dentist can also get involve with our kit by talking with them and seeing if they can make you a cd with the child dental x-ray. This can help enhance your kit.

Dis-belief of our program is I have been asked how long and where the CHIP is placed. There is no chip place in or about your child as most people think.  We do not CHIP them like you would an animal. There is no one going to track you or your child from a disc. All this is, a program were the parents can get their child information on a cd or a flash drive so that they can have them if the need arrives.

What can I do to help. When we have CHIP set up please bring your child in and let us set up a disc for you. Do think of and list all health concerns, scars, birth marks, and any thing that will help ID your child if they become lost. You will be present when we do this event. If we mess up the messed disc paper etc goes with you to take and destroy. Remember that this is a valuable tool that will help to speed up locating your child since the police can down load this straight on the AMBER ALERT system.

As for business we are taking donation to buy the computers. We accept any amounts that any one would like to donate. The address they can send this to is: Clay Center Lodge Jeff Hunter Secretary 1318 12th ST Clay Center KS 67432.

If any one would like to sponsor an event they can also submit a letter to the lodge stating the date and time of the event they would like have done. Please do this at least 2 months in advance so that we can see if the lodge would be willing to do it and if we can get the computers to do the events. The more advance the better if you like to have the event done.
